It harbors a small town feeling, with all the amenities of a larger city.

Shopping in Wasilla is much like Anchorage and Fairbanks. The difference being that Wasilla relies on Anchorage for its larger movie theaters, live attractions, and bulk shopping.
Wasilla has a Target, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Sears, and various smaller shops. Shopping seems limited, but it has all the necessities.
In Wasilla the best activities are outdoors. You can make a trip to the Iditarod Museum, or take a drive up to Hatcher's Pass for berry picking or gold panning. You can also take a trip to any of the lakes for a swim.
The Alaska Museum of Transportation and Industry is just a short drive up the Parks Highway, and has interesting sights to see
If you plan on staying in Wasilla on your way to or from Denali or Anchorage we recommend the Best Western at Lake Lucille. This beautiful lodge is located on scenic Lake Lucille off the Parks Highway.
The Best Western on Lake Lucille is open year round and offers lake-view suites, complete with a continental breakfast. The hotel is far enough into nature to be relaxing, but close to town for your convienence.
Wasilla resides in the Matanuska-Susitna, along with it's sister city of Palmer. The city of palmer is a farming town and the annual host of the Alaska State Fair. The area has one major hospital, and a new bus service that runs to Eagle River.
