Alaska Vacation Tips
Talkeetna, a look into Alaska's early days
Talkeetna Welcomes You!

Welcome to Talkeetna!

Talkeetna is located north of Wasilla off the Roger Parks Highway.  This little town was founded in the pioneer days of Alaska, and was once only accessible by boat, plane or dogsled in the winter. The Railroad was established in the early 1900's and the road was completed in 1964.
The town is now used as a rest spot for travelers on their way north, and for the hikers that want to ascend Denali.  This is considered the 'first step' towards conquering the mountain.

If you plan on lodging in Talkeetna on your way to Denali or Fairbanks we recommend the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.

Activities:

Activities in Talkeetna are varied.  There are food vendors and craft shops all over the town. Including two museums, and light fishing on the river.  The blog located -here- was written by a visitor and describes the town beautifully.

This town will undoubtedly leave an impression.  Charming is an understatement.
